Happy Sunday everyone!

Ever since Instagram’s algorithm has changed, my growth on the platform has basically become quite stagnant. Growth is no longer dependent on the amount of impressions your hashtags can land you; it’s more about marketing and constant engagement.

I have been posting on Instagram since 2012, but the platform is more of a hobby rather than supplemental income. So I’ve decided that instead of going into details for the makeup looks on Instagram, it may be more useful to go in depth on my blog.

How I Became A Blink? When did it all start?

In the beginning of 2020, I don’t think that true Blinks would have even considered me a fan. However, the pandemic changed everything — I started to watch YouthwithYou and became somewhat enamored by Lisa’s charm and dance techniques. This is when I started to do research on YG Entertainment and just how much they have focused on the success of Blackpink.

Inspiration Behind Makeup Look:

There were many intricate makeup looks featured in this MV, but I loved the scene with Jisoo in the garden the most. The entire set had this ethereal vibe to it with a mixture of greens, blues and warm golden tones. The makeup look itself was rather simple, very natural featuring light blush and peach tones.

Challenge:

As if my skin inherently knew that I wanted to do a new makeup look — my dermatitis decided to give me a visit, so please excuse the texture along my jawline in the before picture. It was a mild rash that prevented me from attempting this look any sooner, but that is okay! Here we are!

Base Products:

Primer:
Philosophy Anti-wrinkle Miracle+ Worker Primer ($38)
This is a traditional line-smoothing primer that melds into the skin when warmed up in between fingers. It has a light-weight silicone feel and can be used daily to soften visible wrinkles and texture.

Foundation Mixture:
Due to it being a transitional season, the tone and texture of my skin is changing constantly. The only reliable solution has been to mix different colors and consistencies of foundations and tints to find the closest match.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation ($35)
This particular Fenty foundation has a very interesting consistency to it. It comes out of the package like a full coverage face tint, but has a demi-matte foundation finish to the skin.
Bourjois Paris Healthy Mix Anti-Fatigue Foundation ($10)
The health mix foundation has a light cream/fluid texture, so it melds into the skin very easily and when mixed with the Fenty it creates almost like a self-setting base combination.

Concealer & Set:

Concealer:
Tarte Shapetape Concealer (Light Sand) ($27)
A creamy full coverage concealer that blends beautifully with a beauty blender.

Setting Powder:
Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (Translucent) ($39)
A loose setting powder to set any liquids to prevent concealers and foundations from moving around throughout the day.

Eyebrows:

Brow Defining:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (Soft Brown) $23
Thin shaping eyebrow pencil that is detailed enough to draw individual hair strokes, but also pigmented enough to help with shading — comes with spooley on opposite end.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade (Dark Brown) $21
A traditional pomade to help add significant pigment and re-shaping in brows.

Brow Setting:
Glossier BoyBrow (Brown) $16
Light-weight brow defining fiber based gel to help make individual hairs more obvious and build volume.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel (Clear) $22
A traditional clear brow gel to help set hairs in place, and can also double up as a clear mascara (exercise sanitary precautions when doing so).

Eyeshadows Prep & Colors:

Eyeshadow Primer
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($24)
This is a skin-tone colored eyelid primer that blends out clear and provides optimal smoothness for eyeshadow application. This range of eyeshadow primers also include more pigmented ones to help with those that suffer from eyelid discoloration.

Eyeshadow Palette & Colors
Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered Palette ($65)
The photos below are of the original Rose Gold palette. The colors are similar, but the textures are easier to work with from the remastered palette. This palette is quite nice since it has rose golds, coppers, olives, and necessary neutrals all in one place.

Eyeshadow Colors Used:
For this eye-look, the color ‘shy’ which is now ‘demure’ was used all over the lid. Then ‘sandalwood’ was applied to the crease and blended out. Then a second application of ‘shy’ was placed on the lids to make the blush tones more obvious.

Eyeliner & Lashes

Eyeliners:
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Zero ($22)
Traditional soft matte black eye pencil, perfect for lining inner rims to provide more depth.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper ($21)
Brush tip liquid liner that helps with creating precise wings and pigment in between lashes.

Lashes & Adhesive:
Duo Brush-on Adhesive (Clear) ($6.49)

Faux Eyelashes ($1.00)
These lashes were purchased in a dollar store during my trip to Japan in 2018. The closest lashes to these at an affordable price range are the Ardell Lash Natural 174 ($4.99)

Cheeks

Bronzer:
Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer (Original) ($30)
This is a very natural bronzer, even tones of gray and brown to yield a great contour shade. It can be used to warm up the complexion and/or create more depth.

Blush:
Morphe Cosmetics Blush Palette in N9
This palette unbeknownst to me has been discontinued, but the Morphe Cosmetics 8W Warm Master Blush Palette ($22) features similar colors.

In order to keep the cheeks simple, a peachy bronze shade is best for a natural flush of color without it being too pink and taking away from the eyes.

Highlight:
Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder (Pink Glow) ($48)
This highlighter is one of my all time favorites because it works for me regardless of the season. It works on my wintery-pale skin as well as my summer goddess bronzed skin. It provides the perfect amount of sheen on the cheeks without making any existing texture more obvious.

Lips

Lipstick & Lipgloss:
Clinique Almost Lipstick (Pink Honey) ($20)
The Almost Lipstick line has always been one of my favorite go-to natural lippies. They have a little bit more color than the run of the mill lip balms, but less color than one-swipe lipsticks. They are forgiving to use since they have a sheer but ample amount of color to enhance any pout. For this look specifically, the lipstick was dabbed all over the lips and then blotted with a finger to blend.

Photo of Lip Combination: Clinique Pink Honey, Estee Edit Flash Photo gloss

Estee Lauder The Estee Edit Flash Photo Gloss ($20)

This lip gloss not only provided shine to the lips, but also brightened the look of teeth. In 2017, there were a handful of cosmetic brands that launched blue-tinted lip glosses. It was suppose to ride the trend of all the teeth whitening products that were all the rage in 2016. However, this lip trend was very short lived and by the end of 2017 there were virtually none left on the market. The only one that seems to be available and from a verifiable company is the Apa Blue Lipshine ($25).
