Day 1: Curated Gift Ideas (Rose Set Edition)

Do you have a Rose 🌹 obsessed person in your life? This gift set might be it!

Gifting season is right around the corner and buying the perfect gift for someone can be challenging. For the next 25 days leading up to Christmas, I’ve decided to publish posts daily for gift ideas (or at least try). Today the post will focus on rose lovers. It’s for the ladies and gents that enjoy the scent, sensation and experience of roses.

Product #1:
Louis Vuitton Rose Des Vents Eau de Parfum $265

Why?:

Within the five picks, this item within the set is the priciest. However, in terms of a luxury gift, this costs significantly less than a kidney! Just kidding!
Seeing that this is a luxury fragrance from a prestigious brand, just undoing the wrapping is an experience. If your favorite love language is ‘gifting’ then you will definitely find this product to be fitting.

Description of Scent: 5 Scent Focus by Louis Vuitton

1. Centifolia Rose – natively grown in Grasse France, has a clear and sweet scent with light notes of honey
2. Turkish Rose – more commonly known as Damask Rose, it has the aroma of a summer/autumn rose garden. Imagine a more full-bodied rose scent
3. Bulgarian Rose – although grown near the Damask, these roses tend to have a lighter, fresh flower scent
4. Italian Iris – encompassing multiple species and grown in many regions of Italy. These violet beauties provide smoothness to fragrances and has inherent qualities that help it blend into the skin seamlessly.
5. Virginia Cedar – native to my home the United States, a grounding element to the fragrance; the aromatic woods fulfills a bass to the soft petals described above

My Thoughts:

Even though I’m not someone who is particularly fond of rose fragrances, this one stands out. I generally enjoy clean, fresh and fruity scents and this fragrance somehow still fits in my perfume wardrobe. Immediately after the initial spritz, it has a ‘green’ scent, almost like the smell of a cracked stem. Within the next couple of minutes, it transitions into the scent of freshly plucked rose petals. And as the day goes on, the fragrance will settle into the smell of freshly dead-headed roses basking in the sunset whilst sitting on top of a slab of red cedarwood.

Tip: Grab a sample if you are unsure.

Fragrances are a very personal gift, recipients may be very particular about what they want to wear around all day long. In this scenario, I would highly recommend that the sender step into a brick and mortar Louis Vuitton store to inquire about obtaining a sample even if they intend to purchase the full size. That way, the recipient can try the sample out first before ripping open the full sized one and deciding that it may not be for them.

Product #2:
L’Occitane Rose Hand Cream $24

L’Occitane hand creams come in at $12 for a mini and $24 for the full size. The mini sized ones are great stocking stuffers and the full sized ones make great gifts on their own. In this post, we will focus mainly on the Rose version for obvious reasons.

Like the Louis Vuitton fragrance, L’Occitane uses Centifolia Roses in their product. In this scenario L’Occitane uses rose extract and rose water; both ingredients that will soften the skin and provide a light scent. The shea butter and beeswax mixture that L’Occitane uses in their formulations is what sets them apart from other competitors. Often times you’ll see only one and not the other in rival hand treatments.

Product #3
Lush Rose Jam Shower Gel $24.95

Rose Jam Shower Gel Full Size
Rose Jam Shower Gel Pour Out

Although this shower gel smells delicious, it is not edible. It comes in four sizes 3.3oz ($10.95), 8.4oz ($24.95), 16.9oz ($36.95), and 33.8oz ($54.95).
Lush describes the smell of Rose Jam as:
“A field of Turkish roses mashed into a sugary cheerful jam.”

To be honest, it is actually very accurate. In terms of scent, you are immediately hit with the Goji Berry Juice which is what gives it that bright fruity scent. Following that you will experience a bit of tartness from the Sicilian Lemon Oil. After you have scrubbed, washed and rinsed, it leaves behind a mild rose scent from the rose extracts and oil.

Product #4
Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner $36.95

Lush's Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

To follow-up on directly after the Rose Jam Shower Gel, Lush also sells a product called Ro’s Argan, it comes in a 7.9oz ($36.95) and 15.8oz($54.95). It is designed to hydrate immediately after a shower while the skin is still a semi-damp.

This product has a really smoothy and creamy consistency. Since it is applied to skin when it is damp, the absorption rate of this product is high. It is jam packed with hydrating oils such as Almond Oil, Brazil Nut Oil, and Argan Oil. Additionally, the cream base includes Shea Butter, Cupuacu Butter, and Cocoa Butter. And lastly, the sensual part of it, is the scent which is carried out by the Rose Extract, Rose Oil, Geranium Oil, and Lemon Oil.

Bath products are often great gifts because they can provide the recipient with the first uplift of the day, or the first relaxation of the evening.

Product #5
Biossance Squalene and Rose Vegan Lip Balm $14

Biossance Squalene and Rose Vegan Lip Balm

Finally we are closing in on the last product of this #Giftmas list.
Featured here is the Biossance lip balm.

I have been using this product since its initial launch in the pot form. However, the company has since changed the packaging for sanitary reasons. I have never encountered a lip balm that would hydrate, smooth and heal in such a thin texture.

With my temperamental skin and overheated apartment, I often relied on heavy balms like Nivea and Aquaphor for healing purposes. This lip balm is not only super light weight, but it fulfills all of my hydration needs. Shockingly, this lip balm is vegan whilst most of the other balms that I use contain Lanolin.

The formula of this lip treatment includes hydrating ingredients such as Castor Oil, Damask Rose Flower Wax, Squalene, Grape Seed Oil, Jojoba Esters, and Sodium Hyaluronate. The star of the formula is definitely Sodium Hyaluronate which helps to retain moisture and ensures that the product will last for as long as possible after being applied.

Final Thoughts:

I hope that you enjoyed the first day of #Giftmas and that it aided you in finding the perfect gift. It’s a bit ambitious for me to want to jump back on and try to churn out blogposts everyday — but I thought it would make for a fun challenge! If you have any ideas of what other lists you may want to see, feel free to leave a comment down below and let’s #shoptogether!
