Dr. Jart is a Korean skincare/cosmetic company founded in 2004 which features a team of 21 dermatologists who produce innovative products that’s definitely shaken the Beauty Community over the years. Dr. Jart was one of the two brands to introduce BB Creams to the American market which led to many other Western brands such as Dior and Lancome to follow suit shortly after. And although they have made some very seemingly ‘gimmicky’ products over the years, super eye-catching and definitely fabulous for the skin!

So here we go:
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream $48
“I feel that over the last few weeks my skin has become deflated. I think that it’s from the anxiety, chips, cookies and boredom. There is also an accumulation of dryness and dry patches that make the surface of my skin feel really rough.”
Preface: I personally have true dehydrated combination skin, so therefore I can only really use this product on areas of my face that is absolutely ‘desert’ without any repercussions. If I tried to use this product on anywhere else but my chin and around my nose I will generally breakout from the richness of the product.
What type of product is this?
It is a moisturizer that helps to retain moisture in the skin and also repair the outer layers of lipids that may be dehydrated due to environmental aggressors such as weather and climate changes, hormonal imbalances, high dosages of sun, and low water consumption.
The formula of this product is very versatile since it can calm the skin, hydrate the skin, clarify the skin, protect the skin, as well as brighten the skin. We will be going into all the details below.
Ingredient Breakdown:
5-Cera Complex: this is Dr. Jart’s proprietary ceramide blend which includes five different types of ceramides (Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide AS, Ceramide NS, Ceramide EOP)
There are usually nine ceramides that can be found in our skin, but generally there are seven that are used in skincare and cosmetic products. Dr. Jarts’ Ceramidin Cream features five out of these seven them. Lipid fats are made up of roughly 50% ceramides, so fulfilling this requirement is crucial for skin health.
Bifida Ferment Lysate:
A pro-biotic ingredient derived from yeast to make the skin less reactive to environmental aggressors by strengthening it’s microbiome.
Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract:
A seed that is filled with peptides and fatty acids to help work in tandem with ceramides.
Anti-Inflammatory/Anti-septic Ingredients that also help the skin heal:
Ocimum Sanctum Leaf (Holy Basil)
Pelargonium Graveolens Flower (Geranium Oil)
Artemisia Vulgaris Extract (Mugwort)
Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot)
Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil
Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil
Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract
Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract

Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract (pairs really well with hyaluronic acid)
Additionally – Sage Oil, Patchouli Oil helps with dealing with skin issues such as dermatitis, acne, and eczema.

Cholesterol:
An ingredient that has serves duo purposes. The first purpose is to help plump the skin to enhance elasticity. The second purpose is to prevent oil based and water based ingredients from separating in the product.
Review:
As you can see from the ingredient listing above, this item does a little bit of everything. The combination of this moisturizer and a gentle exfoliant is ideal for those that have truly dry and sensitive skin. If you have loads of dry skin and do not already exfoliate then this moisturizer can cause breakouts due to how emollient the product is. With this cream, the turnaround time to see more hydrated and plumpness in the skin will only take a mere 2-3 days. The other great thing about this is that at the $48 price point, this multi-purpose moisturizer will last you a long time since a little bit goes such a long way.
Finishing Thoughts:
As a reparative moisturizer that helps to clarify, hydrate, and full of antioxidants, the mid-range price point of $48 is not too bad. The only downside to this product is that due to the consistency it doesn’t fit a wide range of skin types. However, if you tend to have drier skin and is more prone to congestion I would recommend the Ceramidin Liquid ($39) as a hydrating toner for the skin and using a light-weight moisturizer on top.
The Ceramide line actually use to come in a gel and balm form as well, however that is no longer in production. In order to make room for other products such as the Tiger/Grass Cicapair and the V7, the Ceramide collection has shrunken. If you’re looking for a gel consistency from the line, I would highly recommend the Tiger Grass/Cicapair Gel Moisturizer ($48). Not only is it light-weight and more fitted for other skin types, it’s also great at soothing the skin, decreasing redness, and reducing inflammation/swelling.
I hope that you enjoyed this review of the Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream as well as some of the other comparable recommendations made for other skin types. Dr. Jart has always been one of the brands that are a go-to for when someone has really reactive skin and needs a product that can soothe and calm. Obviously, the only time I would stray away is if you’re allergic to one of the natural ingredients that the product may contain, otherwise I find this line to be effective without being overly aggressive.
