Do you get teased for how you spend your money? I do.
Often times I get criticized on how I spend my money; most people mention it with good intentions, but nonetheless I still feel some sort of satisfaction in treating myself to just a little bit of luxe.
To me though, there’s nothing better than spending my hard earned money on a little bit of luxury to motivate myself even more. Even in a cosmetic item, Yves Saint Laurent definitely does not fail in delivering luxurious packaging. Let’s start off with the unicarton shall we?
Packaging:
The outside packaging always features this gorgeous foil-like gold hue with the classic YSL block logo in black; truly one of the most classic color combinations.
Shade of Choice:
- #5 Rosewood Gang- this gorgeous deep rose color with berry tones
- #7 Nu Interdit- a stunning pink-ie nude with a cool beige undertone
Swatches & Pigment:
Rosewood Gang (#5): This is an absolutely gorgeous berry toned pink, great for the winter months where my wardrobe tends to be a bit darker and lacks pops of colors. This lippie will be the perfect holiday color as it is has the essence of the Christmas spirit, but without being overwhelmingly loud. Also… with all the holiday food involved, it’s probably better that way since it won’t be bright red when I do get it everywhere. #ieatalot
Nu Interdit (#7): This is an awesome pink-ie nude with an almost grey-beige undertone. I am quite use to lots of pink-ie nudes that have lots of brown undertones, but this nude is definitely quite neutral in that sense. I genuinely enjoy how versatile this shade is, since it doesn’t make me look dead, but isn’t too girly and pink-ie either. #mylipsbutbetter
These lip stains definitely stand out to me because they do not feel drying on the lips and come out almost in a watery like consistency. The colors are bold and pigmented; definitely not lacking in quality. The collection also includes different finishes such as metallics and so on. My favorites are definitely from this matte line — specifically these two.
Application and Applicator:
In terms of application, this is where I believe these luxury lip stains did absolutely superb. The doe-foot that is featured on this lip stain is definitely designed with thought — it has a little bit of a divot where the perfect amount of product can be scooped into it upon removing the wand from the bottle. I have never once had to re-dip my applicator into the bottle for additional product to build up the pigment on my lips. And perhaps, let’s not forget about that little YSL detail on the doe-foot (where every bit logomania matters).
Cons:
The only cons of this product I can really discuss are two things:
1. These lip stains are more on the watery side so it will have less of that clay-like finish; therefore if you eat greasy foods, expect that middle section of your lip to not have any pigment left.
2. The stains come in at a pretty steep price point, yes granted they are from a luxury house it is partly assumed — but $37 nonetheless is quite still the expense.
Overall Thoughts: Worth It!
